Mel Freilicher 
Mel
Freilicher is a longtime San Diego resident who was publisher and
co-editor of CRAWL OUT YOUR WINDOW for 15 years, a magazine of
regional literature and arts; he was an activist, including working with
downtown artists groups; did a stint as a performance artist, and was the
first Vice-President of the Board of Sushi.
Freilicher has been anthologized in Sun and Moon press’ Contemporary
American Fiction, and has chapbooks out from Standing Stones Press and
Obscure publications. His reviews, essays, and fiction have appeared in
many publications, such as American Book Review, Central Park, Fiction
International, San Diego Free Press, San Diego Union-Tribune, Flue:
magazine of Franklin Furnace Archive, NY; Frame-work: Journal of the LA
Center for Photographic Studies; San Diego Reader, River Styx, Fourteen
Hills, Golden Handcuffs Review, eye-rhyme: journal of experimental
literature.
Freilicher has been teaching literature and writing at UCSD and
SDSU for several decades.
